Priory Post – Contains Information about dates and times of return to school in September
Year 6 Induction Days – 7 and 8 July 2014
We are in the process of creating our new tutor groups and making final arrangements for the two induction days next week. Staff from Priory will also be in junior schools meeting as many of our new pupils as possible this week and answering any questions they might have about induction.
Please note that pupils should wear their junior school uniform on both induction days with us so that we retain the ‘business-like’ environment we expect.
Any pupils who have a free school meal in their current school will be catered for here as we get all lists from existing schools. All pupils have to do is give their name to our catering staff and they will be ticked off so it is a very simple system.
Finally, Uniform vouchers from Skoolkit are now in school and can be obtained from Lorraine Hart, Assistant Headteacher (email@example.com or 02392 819115, Ext 220). All pupils who are eligible for free school meals can obtain a voucher but we also support any parent or carer experiencing hardship.
We look forward to meeting parents and carers on your own induction evening on Monday 14 July between 6 and 8pm (your 1 hour time slot will be allocated via your child during induction).
Dear Parent and Carers
Firstly, may I warmly welcome you to the Priory Community and thank you for entrusting us with your child’s Secondary Education. I now confirm a few dates for your diaries and other important information about uniform sales.
All new pupils joining us in September 2014 will have a two day induction this year which has been agreed by our Junior School Headteachers. These two days will be Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 July, 8.30am until 2pm. Pupils should only arrive via the Tennis Centre Reception where they will be directed to the court area before being escorted to their new tutor group.
Skoolkit, our uniform stockist, will also be on site on Tuesday 8 July from 2pm to 4pm to assist with your uniform purchases, including school PE kit. A blazer and tie are compulsory items that you can only buy directly from Skoolkit and retail around £35 for both. Please note that all new pupils who are eligible for a free school meal will have the school blazer and tie purchased for them via a voucher system (gold stripe tie for this year group). Please let me know if this applies to you as school records are not always up to date. As always, any parent in receipt of other benefits or experiencing financial difficulty can also apply for uniform assistance. In this connection, I can be contacted on 02392 819115, extension 220 or via email – firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition to the induction days, we will be hosting our New Parents’ Evening on Monday 14 July from 6pm until 8pm. The evening will be split into two sessions each lasting one hour. Once I have placed all pupils into their new tutor groups I will be in a position to confirm whether you are in the earlier or later session – details to follow! Skoolkit will be in again during this evening, from 5pm – 8.30pm. If you prefer, you can also order uniform online (www.skoolkit.co.uk then click on Priory School) or through the Havant shop – 41-43 Market Parade, Havant, PO9 1PY. You are obviously at liberty to buy other basic items from any retailer as long as they adhere to our uniform regulations:
- Black knee-length tailored skirt for girls
- Black tailored school trousers, kick-flared, boot cut or A-line (not tight or tapering to narrow) for girls and boys
- White shirt suitable to attach the clip-on tie
- Black v-necked jumper or cardigan
- Black shoes, no logos or other colours
- Black or navy blue coat
I will shortly be meeting Year 6 teachers to find out any important information about our new pupils. However, if there is anything you feel you need to personally discuss about the move to secondary school, please do let me know. I know the process can be daunting and really do want to make it as easy as possible for everyone. When induction has been completed, pupils will bring home further information to prepare for September. Your child’s first day will be Thursday 4 September, convening in the Tennis Centre at 8.20am.
You will soon be able to access all essential transition information on our website by using the Year 6 Parents’ Portal. Please check after half term for any important updates.
We look forward to meeting you and your child in the very near future.
