On Thursday 19th May 10 of our Year 8 scientists embarked on a innovative journey through technology, science and engineering. The event was held at the Guildhall, with 30+ STEM organisations presenting information and interactive activities for pupils from across the area.
Priory took part in 6 activities with the companies visiting, including a production line for Laleham Health and Beauty (who produce for The Body Shop), Fitbit data analysis with Chichester University and Lego house building with Bouygues. We have also won the chance to visit the factory of Laleham Health and Beauty to see how the organisation works up close – watch out for pictures of this!!
We also took part in an innovation competition to design a piece of technology for the future. Priory pupil’s decided upon ‘Appability’ – an App and sensors which could help disabled or housebound people with every day tasks, like switching on the shower or turning on a light, to increase their independence and safety.
We were joined for the day by a STEM ambassador, Christine Goode from QA hospital. She was extremely impressed with our pupils involvement, behaviour and attitude throughout the day. She was very proud of them all.
Well done year 8!
