17 of our year 7 pupils competed in an inter-school Christmas Cardboard Challenge at Portsmouth University on Thursday 17th December. The challenge was inspired by a little boy in America who created his own games arcade completely out of cardboard (see here for more information). Our year 7’s were set the challenge of creating an interactive Christmas grotto, in just over 2 hours, only using cardboard and paper!
All 3 teams picked very different approaches to the challenge with an end result of an elves village, a woodland and cottage and a cozy living/dining room scene.
All 3 our teams did well, getting a special mention by the judges for their innovative use of drama and ability to immerse the people visiting the grotto in an activity the whole time. Miss Bruce and I were impressed by creativity and team work throughout the day, as well as the mature and logical manner in which they approached the challenge. However, one team particularly well overall and won the main prize of ‘best transformed room’. Congratulations ladies!
