Over February half term pupils from the top two maths sets in Years 7 to 10 took part in the Southampton University Maths Challenge and Senior Maths Challenge.
The Maths Challenge is aimed at pupils in Years 7 and 8 and the Senior Maths Challenge aimed at pupils in Years 9 and 10.
Both competitions consisted of 8 questions centred around a particular theme, this year the theme was the works of Lewis Carroll. This was because it is150 years since thefirst publication of Alice in Wonderland. The best entrants are invited, along with family or friends, to a prize-giving evening at the University of Southampton.
This is the third year we have entered pupils for these challenges and the pupils have continued to improve on previous successes.
Tom McNab and Saminor Alom, both in Year 8, were awarded a Certificate of Distinction in the Maths Challenge. David Loughlin, Year 9 was awarded a Certificate of Merit. The pupils have been invited to a prize giving evening at the University of Southampton on Wednesday 3 June.
