This morning the Panel has grilled the incumbent MP Mike Hancock standing as an independent. Mike spoke very freely about his independence and how refreshing it had been to step away from the Liberal Democrat whip. He outlined his plans to improve housing and education through a one-pence increase on income tax and not renewing Trident. He explained why he would not allow tenants to buy their own houses, but that we should be building more council housing for people. He outlined his desire for a referendum on the EU so that the nation could move on with a clear mandate. He would approve the lowering of the voting age to 16. He also outlined his passion for safe standing areas in football grounds, improved animal welfare and increases to the minimum wage.
