The Science department is pleased to announce that it is running a trip to CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. CERN is the internationally funded centre of particle physics research. Recent discoveries include the Higgs Boson which is the particle associated with the Higgs field that gives rise to the fundamental property of mass. This is an exciting opportunity for pupils to experience cutting edge Science in action and experience the sights and sounds of Geneva in Switzerland.
The planned trip will take place in the May half term of 2014 and will last for 5 days leaving Wednesday 28 May returning Sunday 1 June. Transport will be by coach and accommodation will be in the Geneva Youth Hostel. Pupils will experience a guided tour of CERN by research physicists and take in the sights of beautiful Geneva surrounded by Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc.
Pupils who wish to take up this opportunity should visit Mr McLean in room 31 to pick up a letter. The total cost of the trip is £325 and a deposit of £50 is required by Thursday 11 July.
