Academies Enterprise Trust

Dear Parent/Carer

We have received notification from the Academies Enterprise Trust that they are no longer taking forward our application to become a sponsored academy with them.

In their letter to us they say that following discussion with the Under Secretary of State for Schools and Department for Education officials, they have had to consider a number of factors in the strategic planning of their organisation and it is with disappointment that they are withdrawing.

The Governing body of Priory School spent a long time and went to great efforts to find a sponsor which they felt would best meet the needs of the school.  The fact that AET have been working very closely with us over the past year, essentially for free, is a testament to their values and vision.  Over the last year they have provided us with support for recruitment, monitoring and evaluating teaching and learning and leadership.  Much of this supported our ‘good’ for leadership and management in the last inspection.  We will ensure that we continue to seek out the best possible support for the school.

Now that the school is judged ‘Good’ for leadership and management our priorities are changed.  We will be working closely with the leadership of the school over the next few weeks to find a strategic way forward to meet the needs of the school, maintain its ethos and strive to become the outstanding school you wish for your children.  All possible options will be explored.

Please be assured this will not adversely affect your child’s education.  If you have any comments or concerns, please email governors@priory.portsmouth.sch.uk to let us know.

Yours sincerely

Julian Wright

Chair of Governors
